160 Meter Loop Antenna

Al, VA6AH set up a 160 meter loop antenna mounted on 6 structures on a
hexagonal format. The poles are 55 feet high and spaced 100 feet between each pole.

Here is how that was done with a one man operation, with the assistance of
his wife, VA6CAP as the camera operator, and providing assistance as needed.

Tower
The support structure is built by welding together
20 foot lengths of 2 inch sched 40 pipe

Tower
A long stinger is mounted on the loader of the tractor.
The stinger is hooked up just above the balance point on the structure.

Tower
The support structure is being picked up.

Tower
The support structure is part way up.
The guy wires are already in place on the pole.
Mounted at the top is a pulley to raise the antenna later.

Tower
The support structure is nearly up at this point.

Tower
Once the pole is up, the tractor holds it in place
while the guy wires are hooked up to the anchors.
A quick release knot at the top, then releases the stinger.

Tower
The structure is up and ready to pull up the antenna.
